- Introduction to Smart Manufacturing: Emerging trends in manufacturing, globalization, advanced technologies in manufacturing, current industrial revolution, smart factories, ethical and social consideration in smart manufacturing. The building blocks of Industry 4.0. Digitalization of Manufacturing Systems and associated challenges.
- Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR): Introduction to virtual and augmented reality, applications, transformation of 3D models in virtual reality, hardware and software used for virtual and augmented reality.
- Modern technologies in the manufacturing industry: Introduction to additive manufacturing and its applications, Additive manufacturing process chain, Material selection, Post processing, Additive manufacturing technologies and processes, Vat photo polymerization, material extrusion, Material jetting, Sheet lamination, Powder bed fusion, Binder jetting, direct energy deposition, Planning and slicing additive manufacturing software, Micro Electro- Mechanical System (MEMS) manufacturing; Lithography, Etching, Micromachining
- Advance Manufacturing Systems: Manufacturing system thinking, manufacturing automation system, flexible manufacturing system, group technology, manufacturing quality control and productivity.
- Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) in Digital Manufacturing: Types and applications of design models, Component modelling, Machine and tool selection, Role of CNC Machining and other numeric control machining in Digital manufacturing, Defining process and parameters, Tool path generation, Simulation, Post processing.
