COURSE CONTENT

  • Exergy: Availability; Second Law efficiency; Exergetic efficiency; exergy change of a system; exergy transfer by heat, work and mass; exergy destruction; exergy balances for open and closed systems
  • Gas Power Cycles: Gas power cycles, Carnot cycle, Otto cycle, spark and compression ignition systems, Diesel cycle, Dual Combustion cycle, Stirling and Ericsson cycles, Brayton cycle, intercooling, reheating and regeneration, Second Law analysis of gas power cycles
  • Vapor Power Cycles: Vapor cycles, Carnot vapor cycle, Rankine cycle, Reheat Rankine cycle, Second law analysis of vapor power cycle New course as per ECRDC guidelines.
